A Tangy Sauce Makes These Baked Wings so Lip-Smacking Good

These wings are lip-smacking good. Whether you're serving them on Game Day or another celebratory occasion, you'll appreciate the no-mess preparation: baking wings not only makes them healthier, but way easier to clean. The flavors are inspired by my nephews Cannon and Carder who helped me come up with the winning combination of spicy and sweet for the sauce. Be sure to make a double batch of the sauce for extra dipping.

Chadwick’s Checklist

What you need to know before you cook.

  • You'll need a 9x13-inch roasting pan.
  • You can make the dipping sauce in advance.

SERVING SIZE: 6-8 PREP TIME: 20 mins TOTAL TIME: 1 hr 5 mins

Ingredients

  • 2 batches of Spicy Sweet Dipping Sauce

  • 1½ -2 lbs. chicken wings (8 wings total) - rinsed, dried and separated at the wing joint to create 16 pieces

  • 2 Tablespoons Kosher salt

  • ¼ cup finely grated extra sharp white cheddar cheese

  • 1 teaspoon whole cilantro leaves

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F.

  2. Sprinkle the chicken wings with Kosher salt on both sides. Place them in a 9"x13" roasting pan.

  3. Pour half of the dipping sauce over the wings. Using a wooden spoon, toss until the wings are fully coated.

  4. Place the wings in the oven. Roast for 40-45 minutes until they are slightly charred and the thick of the meat is cooked through. Stir with a wooden spoon every 15 minutes to ensure even roasting.

  5. Remove from the oven. Let stand 5 minutes to slightly cool. Sprinkle the white cheddar and the cilantro leaves on top. Serve with remaining dipping sauce in a small bowl on the side.

Chadwick’s Changeups

Switch things up. Have some fun! Do more.

  • Monterey Jack is also a great cheese to sprinkle on these wings.
  • You can buy chicken wings already cut into two pieces to save time.
  • Omit cilantro if you're not crazy about it, or use parsley.
